From the day we entered the building we knew that this day would eventually come. Eight years later that day has finally arrived, and we sadly but proudly say #goodbyeShoreditch as our amazing project closes its doors for good on the 31st of July 2018.
We would like to thank the countless people that took part in the events, the amazing artists of all creeds, colour and social background that exhibited at the gallery; some of the top creative Universities & Art Schools that took a chance on us bringing with them their bright-eyed future driven college kids for their final year shows in the basement, the new generation who engaged with us with their fresh attitudes and outlook on life for future generations to live, those amazing DJ sets that will never to be forgotten that went on till the next day, played on one of the best sound systems that London club-land had to offer, grime kids with their weird phone dance rushing to get in to the latest up & coming street talent gig - organised by a young promoter who was asked for ID by security; the rock and roll kids jumping over the wall and trying to get in from the back entrance to sold out gigs by that band that had blown the stage at SXSW and had decided to play our stage in the UK; the fashion events by east European labels who couldn’t afford to show in the West End but are now front stage in Paris & Milano, off-centre classical artists whose previous shows were in high end classical venues and were so surprised that a new audience was hungry for their passion for filling the space with their sonic sense.
We partied to keep creation alive, and now proud to be part an artistic and creative history that stretches all the way back to 1970s Rivington street anti-university. ..don’t despair cause we will be back..
And last but not least all that worked, sweated and cried real tears in setting this up...we are the last of the Mohicans ...
