Autism is a lifelong developmental disability, It effects the way a person socialises, communicates and how they experience and visualise the world around them. It’s a spectrum disorder which means individuals share certain characteristics; yet they may have highly individual needs, preferences and ways of seeing the world.
Due to difficulties with communication and socialising, Art can be a rare visual insight into how a person with Autism may see the world.
People with Autism used to be deemed as individuals who lack creativity and imagination. This exhibition sets out to expel this myth and showcase exceptional Artists who are diagnosed on the Autistic Spectrum.
Due to their difficulties many people with Autism struggle to find and maintain employment. This exhibition gives these artists a platform to exhibit their work within a creative and professional setting.
The Artistic Spectrum Exhibition is presented inassociation with the charity Ambitious about Autism, Red Gallery and Kamio.
