Jack Sedman and Harry Draper make up North Eastern acoustic duo Seafret, the name applied by those in the North East of England to the wild mists which roll in off the North Sea. Rising to prominence at the tail end of 2014, the hotly tipped duo have seen increasing levels of acclaim in recent months, earning support slots for the likes of Jake Bugg, George Ezra and Josh Record.
Forged from numerous open mic slots in a small town, the duo has a timeless sound but with a fresh modern twist. Think The Lumineers but with the mystery of the moors, or even the supply Americana of The Staves given a masculine twist. Fusing delicately constructed instrumentation with adept, mature lyrical craft, their sound manages to encapsulate the finest elements of folk and pop, culminating in tracks that remain both approachable and resonant.
Seafret will release their Oceans EP on 21 January, and today saw them announce a special headline show at The Red Gallery, tickets go on sale Friday (6 March) at 10 am.
