1. Red Gallery is proud to present King Champion Sounds are an incredibly eclectic and exciting English/Dutch band, the brainchild of Ajay Saggar (Dandelion Adventure, The Bent Mustache, The Donkey) and featuring GW Sok of THE EX on vocals.
The seven-piece line-up has a rhythm section that Mark E. Smith would be proud of... Best described (by Thurston Moore) as “a mix of The Fall, Can, Sun Ra, Captain Beefheart, Public Image Ltd, King Tubby. I love this band”.
The band formed early last year, for a one-off support in Amsterdam with, and at the request, of Mike Watt (Minutemen, fIREHOSE, Stooges). MORE INFO HERE
2. Legendary “improv-Super Group” (Time Out), Bruise are set to play live at the first of their monthly events at the Red Gallery in Shoreditch on Tuesday the 29th of July 2014.
Led by Tony Bevan (Soprano, Tenor and Bass Saxophones), The Bruise line up of Orphy Robinson (Tuned Percussion, Electronics), John Edwards (Bass), Mark Sanders(Drums) and Ashley Wales (Electronics) are famed for their soaring, lyrical, epic lunar soundscapes and razor-sharp, off-center grooves. 3. Richard, from the North East of England, is described as a hidden jewel - he certainly shines bright and hard while reeling in live audiences with his warm-hearted, idiosyncratic and eerily transfixing show. Frank travels all the way from California and has a measured grace and time altering charm. His chops and his sincerity bite through the fatty gristle that accompanies so many singer/songwriters. As a foil for each other, this is a double bill of some reckoning, two straight up but skewed troubadours whose travels bring the audience lost popular songs and obscure esoterica that deserve your attention.
