Diesel’s career began by playing the local bars and discos of his native West London, playing straight-ahead jazz, latin and soul in various spots in and around London, then in 1988 was hit by the house music bug and hooked up with friend and dj partner Rocky, playing together as house music’s first dj duo. During this time they became regulars at the Shoom Club and then branched out into djing eclectic sets and all things balearic. Regular dj spots at Boys Own parties with Terry Farley and Andrew Weatherall followed, and from 1989 to 1991 they also ran their own Yellow Book night at the Gardening Club in Covent Garden. Throughout the 90s & 00s regular guest spots would follow, playing clubs like Ministry of Sound, Back to Basics, and Cream, where a residency was held for a number of years.
This soon led to djing around the world, starting with Ibiza, Europe and then South America, South East Asia, Japan and Australasia. Still recording as x-press 2 and currently working on new material for 2014. Diesel also runs 2 labels with Dave Jarvis (Moton Records & Machine Records). The first release on Machine records is an ep by Cottam. Diesel can also be heard with Rocky on the ‘house of x-press 2’ show Ministry of Sound radio every Thursday night from 7-9pm.
