Club Culture Exhibition - Berlin

Featuring carefully selected content from the past 15 years of exhibitions, the Red Gallery’s Ourhistory Archives boast exclusive and rarely seen photographs of some of Europe's most exciting club cultural movements - from the inception of Tresor and Berlin techno in the 90's, to Parisian ‘French Touch’ and Spain's La Movida Madrileña. For the first time in Berlin, these works will be displayed and curated as one whole inter-connected history.

The exhibitions act as a platform to bring together artists, photographers, promoters, adventure-seekers, dreamers and revolutionaries in a collective celebration of music, art and culture.

‘Aint No Politician Will Burn These Red Pants

‘Aint no politician will burn these red pants.

Red Gallery is pleased to introduce their latest intervention in public space before the project closes down for good after 8 years of solid cultural community service.

‘Trenky’ by Prague guerrilla group Ztohoven represents a symbol of political populism in our post-democracy era but also a fundamental doubt about the role of a “head of state” in current political systems. The original action took place 3 years ago when the activist group Ztohoven replaced the President's flag with a huge pair of red pants on top of the Prague castle.

Martin Beck Film Screening - Last Night

Martin Beck Installation - Last Night, 13 Hour Screening: Martin Beck´s Last Nightfor Red Gallery and Tim Lawrence  2018

Organized in the order they were played at the seminal NYC dance party The Loft on 2 June 1984

The 13-and-half-hour-long film version of Last Night (2016) consists of a series of lock shots of a record player where each song is played in its entirety. Each new song is presented from a new camera angle. A total of ten different camera angles are repeated in a pattern based on the Golden Ratio. A hypnotic focus on the slowly moving pickup across the rotating vinyl record emphasizes the physical reproduction of the music. In the exhibition, a specially adapted hi-fi system is used, assembled to correspond to the high-level sound quality one could experience at The Loft.

Creativity, Collectivity, Convergence! New York City Party Culture, 1970-83

New York of the 1970s and early 1980s is routinely depicted as a failing city defined by bankruptcy, declining services, squalor, arson, crime and civil unrest. But it was during this period that the New York’s melting pot population came together to forge contemporary DJ culture, disco, punk and hip hop as well as one of the most prolific cultural renaissances of the twentieth century. These developments that continue to shape musical and artistic creativity.

Wear it Again Market

Are you addicted to fashion gatherings? Love hunting down rad stuff for cheap? If you do, then this is gonna be your JAM!

Wear it Again is not another Kilo Sale or a Vintage Market, but a cool Sustainable Fashion Market with awesome people, selling their unique wardrobes out. Our goal is to change the fashion consuming habits of Londoners from the ”buy, use and throw away” mindset to a re-using one. (Fact: People around the world are buying more than 80 billion new items of clothing each year and are tossing out nearly as much to make room for new purchases.)

Putting back our pre-loved clothes to the shopping-cycle is Smart for Economics, Environment and Style :)
