Broen are the tuba-touting Norwegians celebrated by the likes of The Guardian, Consequence of Sound, Q Magazine and BBC Radio 6 Music’s Lauren Laverne, as well as Bella Union’s Simon Raymonde who signed them to his label. With elements of RnB, rap, jazz, improvisation, psychedelia, dub and electronic - Broen ignore the usual genre conventions and create their own sound. They have built up a reputation of being one of Norway’s best live bands, presenting something completely out of the ordinary. Sparkle-laden costumes and signature dance moves are rivalled only by their own live prowess and musicianship; Broen have united fans and critics alike in adoration. They cannot be described by drawing lines to similar acts, but simply by drawing a line towards them. Only Broen, sounds like Broen.
«Basically, it’s an Every Breath You Take for indie stalkers.» - Guardian
«Broen defies genre… an engaging listen.» - Consequence of Sound
The acclaimed avant-garde pop vocalist Nils Bech has become a favourite of the art world, performing at such venerable venues and events as Venice Biennial, ICA (London), New Museum (New York) and the Van Gogh Museum (Amsterdam). He released his first album with DFA records last year. Echo, an album that explores the "echoes" of the people in his life over the past five years; their search for love, how love can deceive and destroy, but also be the key to everything. Sonically, the record infuses urban, contemporary dance music with hip-hop roots - hard beats in juxtaposition to Bech’s vulnerable bass-baritone.
He has quickly become a phenomenon in Norway, ending the year of 2016 with a beautiful scene in the season finale of the successful Norwegian show SKAM where he interpreted “O Helga Nat” whilst the series protagonist Isaac has an epic moment.
We’ve seen Nils rapidly become a household name in Norway, with a bright and exciting future ahead internationally.
«The multi-talented singer, musician and actor combine soaring, operatic vocals with the sound of cutting edge club music.» - Dazed
«Something rather special...wonderfully absorbing» - Clash
