Monday, July 14, 2014 - 12:00 to Friday, July 25, 2014 - 20:00
Red Gallery director Ernesto Leal and artists Kate Kotcheff and Marta Rocamora are to take part in festival and symposium taking place in the German City of Schwedt.
The Kunstverein eV Schwedt, is an international artists' symposium under the theme "PCK-ART 2.0 - New view of old pictures" from 14 to 25 July 2014. PCK Raffinerie GmbH was a buyer of Fine Arts and is therefore in possession of more than 400 works of art from the second half of the 20th Century. The idea is that the artists openly and critically deal with the works and artistic reaction to it. The reason for the symposium are several, including anniversaries that fall along this year: 50 years of oil refining in Schwedt, 20 years Kunstverein eV Schwedt and especially 25 years political change. 10 artists, from the UK, Poland, Holland, the USA and Germany accepted the invitation and will jointly explore the city, the refinery and the National Park and work in the space of the gallery at the Kiez. A highlight of the symposium will be a panel discussion on July 19, 2014 "How political art is today?" to be moderated by the editor of the newspaper Märkischen, Or Frank Mangelsdorf. Following the symposium, the exhibition will open with the results of the artistic work.
