FILM SCREENING BY JO PEEL @ #R3D AT THE RED GALLERY 05/05/2013

  • RED GALLERY 1-3 Rivington Street London, England, EC2A 3DT United Kingdom

The largest mural in the UK to be painted by an individual artist, the animation was made using a 5 story building, a shipping container, and a double decker bus as a canvas. During the coldest March in 50 years, Jo Peel and her dedicated team spent one-month battling snow blizzards and icy winds to paint and record the animation frame by frame and create a 3-minute film.

Jo Peel has her very own imitable style, using acrylics and spray paint she confidently creates a dialogue by accurately recording the urban landscape in front of her.

Peel is a member of the internationally renowned Scrawl Collective, regularly being commissioned to paint huge exterior street works. She has an ever-increasing set of collectors from around the globe having successfully shown in London, Japan, New York and Hong Kong.

Using buildings as a canvas, Peel works tirelessly to produce large scale animations using stop frame photography to capture each frame of the production of the mural.
